Overview
Director, Experiential Marketing at OpenTable is a senior leadership role focused on shaping how OpenTable shows up in brick-and-mortar moments and digital amplification. This role oversees B2C (diners), B2B (restaurants, key accounts), and Partner events, with a focus on strengthening brand, engaging communities, and driving business growth. The team is evolving from an events-focused function to support thought leadership within digital platforms (e.g., webinars or PR amplification) and pitching brand partnerships alongside the Partnership team.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work from our New York office 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Event Strategy & Vision: Develop and execute a comprehensive global events strategy aligned with OpenTable's marketing and business objectives across diner, restaurant, and co-marketing with industry partners. Identify new in-person opportunities to enhance brand presence, drive engagement, and generate leads.
- Connect brand partnership dollars to industry icons within OpenTable events and other merchandise moments.
- Build digital platform for brand moments: Leverage programs like Notes from the Table and All on the Line webinar series to bring bold voices in the industry together both digitally and in person.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of event professionals; foster a culture of excellence and collaboration; oversee team structure and professional development.
- B2C Event Management: Plan and execute engaging events for OpenTable diners that enhance brand loyalty and platform usage.
- B2B Event Management: Oversee events for restaurant partners (industry conferences, webinars, workshops, product launches, hospitality summits) to support acquisition, retention, and product adoption.
- Partner Event Management: Develop joint initiatives with key technology providers and partners to expand reach and deliver shared outcomes.
- Budget Management & ROI: Own the global events budget, define KPIs and measurement frameworks, track attribution, and communicate impact.
- Vendor & Agency Management: Source and manage external vendors, agencies, and venues; represent the brand with prospects and customer restaurants.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Sales/Account Management, Product, PR, and Legal; report to executive leadership on strategy and performance.
- Brand & Messaging Consistency: Ensure event activities reflect OpenTable's brand identity and messaging.
- Industry Trends & Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and explore innovative approaches to event effectiveness and attendee experience.
- Problem Solving & Adaptability: Navigate complex challenges and adapt to changing circumstances.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in event marketing with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing global or multi-faceted events.
- Proven track record in planning, executing, and measuring a range of events (large conferences, experiential activations, B2B summits, partner events).
- Ability to pitch strategies to brands and co-create experiences; collaborate with industry icons and sell events/activations.
- Experience managing both B2C and B2B event portfolios.
- Strong leadership and team management skills; ability to motivate and develop talent.
- Financial acumen with experience managing significant event budgets and ROI focus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate ideas to diverse audiences including executives.
- Experience managing up and providing strategic updates to senior leaders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with a bias for action and creative problem-solving.
- Experience in technology, hospitality, or online marketplace industries is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for events and meetings.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including market data, location, and experience. For this role in the United States, the range is $180,000–$200,000. The role is eligible for a bonus and equity grant.
