Director, Global Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
Role Summary
Reporting to the SVP, Global Operations, the Director of Global EH&S sets the strategy and leads the execution of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (ESG) programs across corporate and worldwide manufacturing sites. This leader builds a high-performance safety culture, standardizes systems and practices, ensures compliance, and delivers measurable results aligned to Operational Excellence.
What You'll Do
- Strategy & Leadership
- Define the global EH&S vision, goals, and roadmaps; mentor and develop EH&S teams and site leaders.
- Embed a risk-based approach and Lean principles into daily operations and decision-making.
- Programs, Standards & Compliance
- Develop and deploy global policies, procedures, training, and Safety System frameworks.
- Standardize expectations across all sites and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.
- Risk Management & Audits
- Oversee global site assessments and audits; investigate findings, drive corrective actions, and manage regulatory interactions.
- Identify regulatory impacts, secure required permits/approvals, and maintain timely, accurate environmental reporting.
- Sustainability (ESG)
- Partner across the business to deliver energy/carbon reduction initiatives with positive environmental impact and ROI.
- Capital & Growth
- Provide EH&S due diligence and strategic input for new land/facility acquisitions and major capital projects.
- Data, Systems & Insights
- Own global EH&S software/data management systems; enable accurate metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting.
- Training & Culture
- Lead strategic training programs; elevate safety culture, engagement, and accountability at every level.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, HR, Legal, Procurement, and external partners/OEMs to resolve issues and deliver results.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Occupational Health, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field.
- 15+ years in manufacturing with proven EH&S program leadership and team management.
- 5+ years of Environmental experience (permitting, reporting, compliance).
- Demonstrated success building and sustaining a strong safety culture.
- High level of personal integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
- EPA/Superfund site clean-up experience.
- EH&S leadership in metal fabrication and/or heavy manufacturing.
- Spanish fluency.
