Accountability Objective:
The Incumbent directs the daily operation of the College education programs of the Danville Department of Corrections in Danville, IL. The Incumbent reports to the Dean of Business & Technology and works with no direct supervision and minimal non-direct supervision.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree; Three years of administrative/supervisory experience. Working knowledge of correctional education and/or community colleges. Good verbal and written communicative skills. Proven interpersonal skills. Ability to pass all Department of Corrections background screening.
Desired Qualifications
Master's Degree; Knowledge of correctional systems. Experience in higher education.
Responsibilities
Administers and supervises individual in custody college programs.Prepares the budget, monitors grant funding and assists with the development and revision of course descriptions and program curriculums as required.Develops and revises correctional staff personnel policies as required at the Department of Corrections.Supervises full time and part time faculty and staff.Evaluates Department of Corrections faculty and staff job performance in a fair and consistent manner annually.Submits required fiscal and program reports in an accurate and timely fashion.Recruit, screen, and recommend qualified candidates for Danville DOC faculty and staff positions. Coordinate and assign staff responsibilities.Interprets and administers correctional center policies.Coordinates the reporting process of individual in custody student records.Coordinates the program scheduling and instructional activities.Coordinates the required annual correctional training for faculty and staff.Prepares the budget and assists with the fiscal records of the contractual agreement.Liaison coordinates, plans, and schedules course offerings at the correctional center with the assistance of the Director of Department of Correction Transfers.Review and monitor purchase orders prepared by facility staff.Ensure all rosters are completed on assigned dates and attendance records prepared by facility staff are complete and accurate.Attend Administrators, Wardens Meeting, and other meetings as assigned.Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College and inform the Dean, in writing, of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.Ensure inventory of property, caustics, and flammables are maintained in program area.Ensure accurate control of tools and keys are maintained in program area.Ensure Attendance Contracts, task lists, and Attendance Contracts are prepared as required.Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections regulations and procedures.Motivates personnel as their first line administrator; engenders a spirit of teamwork; on an annual basis, independently evaluates work performance of subordinates for purpose of continuation of employment; helps develop each subordinate to achieve his/her maximum potential.Makes and changes work assignments were deemed necessary.Lead institutional assessment for Department of Corrections Faculty and attends assessment team meetings.Support faculty including clearance and production of course materials.Collaborates with Adult Education to assist with testing and tutoring needs.Serves as a College representative in the first step of the complaint procedure by addressing complaints made by non-represented staff.Serves in the capacity of a college administrator and is charged with implementing College principles and procedures and handling emergencies.Incumbent may be assigned periodically tasks associated with being employed within a correctional center. These responsibilities may include package pick-up, collecting and delivering mail, escorting visitors, gathering and inputting information on the offender tracking system, taking of inventory, photocopying, corresponding, filing, book binding, cleaning storage area and office areas, activities surrounding graduation exercises, issuing call passes, etc.Other duties as assigned.Supplemental QuestionsDocuments Needed to Apply
