Director, Dry Utilities -- Civil Construction DC Metro

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of Dry Utilities within a growing Civil Construction Company.
  • Oversee project managers, assistant project managers, and superintendents to ensure client satisfaction and project execution, collaborating with field personnel and operations managers.
  • Develop division growth strategies with the support of senior leadership.
  • Set and monitor annual goals for the dry utility division.
  • Coordinate with the recruiting team to fill field and office positions.
  • Address employee performance issues, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and networking activities.
  • Secure subcontractors under master service agreements to support division scopes of work.
  • Organize networking and client engagement events.
  • Utilize CRM systems to track opportunities and leads.
  • Analyze bid results and production data to inform future pricing and bidding strategies.
  • Hold bi-weekly meetings with division staff to review ongoing projects and opportunities.
  • Collaborate across divisions to identify additional work opportunities on project sites.
  • Follow up post-project to ensure client satisfaction and explore further business opportunities.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews promoting honest feedback and clear communication of expectations and consequences.
  • Ensure team adherence to operational processes, recommending improvements as needed.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of project management experience in dry utilities.
  • Experience managing projects across DC, MD, and surrounding areas.
  • At least 2 years of crew management experience.
  • Ability to read plans; estimating experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
  • Technical expertise in dry utility installation.
