Reporting to the Vice President - Finance, the Director of Decision Support is responsible for overseeing the Decision Support function and team, managing the Cost Accounting System, service line profitability reporting, annual service demand budgets, pro forma valuation of new services, and integrating clinical and financial data into a patient-centric repository. The role involves developing strategic and tactical tools, resources, and analytical support to facilitate financial decision-making across the health system. The Director supports the financial data integration for John Muir Health and is recognized as the expert in data collection, organization, and analysis, creating and continuously improving models that enable leadership to view data across various business entities and lines in the absence of general ledger support. This position is the primary source for data analysis and reporting, supporting organizational growth strategies by liaising with external consultants and internal project groups.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field - Required
Experience:
  • At least seven years of experience in Decision Support or Financial Management within the Healthcare sector, preferably in a hospital setting - Required
  • Three years of experience leading teams
Required Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare decision support systems, clinical finance, and cost accounting principles
  • Excellent leadership skills to foster teamwork and collaboration across departments
  • Proficiency in developing strategic plans, staff development, operational organization, and fiscal management
  • Strong critical-thinking and business process skills for effective solution implementation
  • Ability to educate management and adapt decision support objectives to various needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Knowledge of clinical, financial, and business IT systems and tools
  • Experience with hospital cost accounting and familiarity with healthcare reimbursement concepts
  • Outstanding project management skills for handling multiple overlapping projects
  • Experience with Epic, Workday, and related accounting software
Work Details:

Work Shift: Exempt Salaried (United States of America)

Pay Range: $176,276.00 - $264,415.00

Note: Compensation is based on relevant experience and/or licensure, with adjustments for local markets outside the Bay Area. Positions listed as exempt are not eligible for overtime, and the work shift will specify 'exempt'.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
