Overview

Director, Data Solutions, Small Commercial Risk Analytics — This role offers an exciting and unique opportunity to serve as a hands-on thought leader in developing advanced, scalable data solutions for US Retail Market's (USRM) Small Commercial Risk Analytics teams and other areas. Operating under broad managerial direction, this role requires navigating complex assignments with significant technical depth and coordination. The Director brings extensive technical expertise and industry knowledge, and is recognized as a subject matter expert who provides guidance, support, and training to Junior Analysts.

This position may have in-office requirements dependent upon candidate location.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop data solutions of the highest complexity to meet the needs of the organization and business customers.
  • Use best practices in designing solutions that meet technical and business requirements, with an ability to perform iterative solution testing to ensure specifications are met.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members of all skill levels.
  • Design and develop data solutions that enable effective self-service data consumption, and describe their value to the customer.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business. Prioritize efforts based on customer value.
  • Lead a project team.
  • Set expectations of own deliverables of the highest complexity and communicate to a senior audience how designs meet business needs.
  • Turn vague ideas or problems into a data product strategy. Influence strategic thinking across the team and the broader organization.
  • Maintain data solutions and assess their viability and scalability, within the team or in partnership with IT.
  • Ensure data solutions include deliverables required to achieve high quality data.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and apply principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security to project work.
  • Lead a complex Business Intelligence project and communicate to a senior audience how designs meet business needs.
  • Demonstrate a command of new technologies as needed to progress initiatives and influence across the team and broader organization.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Master's in same or related disciplines strongly preferred.
  • 7-10 years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including Python, SQL, ETL, Spark, Snowflake.
  • 7-10 years experience as developer with top quadrant Business Intelligence tools.

Pay and Benefits

Base pay range$117,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles may include commission and/or bonus earnings as described in the compensation plan.
