About the Position
As Compliance Director, you will develop and implement components of Fireblocks' BSA/AML and CTF Compliance Program for regulated services. Your expertise in transaction and customer monitoring will be key to establishing compliance operations supporting institutional clients. A deep understanding of relevant regulations and industry practices in a digital assets context will be invaluable.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and regulators, to ensure effective, risk-based compliance. The role requires a proactive, scalable approach to compliance, with a strong grasp of banking or payments, in traditional or Web3 environments.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Compliance and oversees a small team, with growth potential. It is based in the US, preferably near NYC, but remote candidates are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of BSA/AML and sanctions compliance programs for a regulated custodian and money services business.
- Execute compliance operations including name screening, transaction monitoring, investigations, report filing, onboarding, and reviews.
- Ensure Suspicious Activity Reports are filed timely and meet requirements.
- Oversee compliance programs and report risks and metrics to stakeholders.
- Update risk classifications and assess risks related to new products.
- Manage regulatory inquiries, licensing, audits, and examinations.
- Advise internal teams on compliance matters and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Identify opportunities for process and technological improvements.
- Support ad hoc projects to enhance compliance operations.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of senior compliance experience in regulated financial institutions, with knowledge of BSA/AML and sanctions.
- Experience in Payments, Banking, Fintech, or Cryptocurrency sectors.
- Strong understanding of US BSA/AML and sanctions regulations and industry practices.
- Proven ability to design controls and lead compliance program components.
- People management experience, preferably in a player-coach role.
- Growth mindset and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Web3 or digital assets.
- Experience with US or NY-regulated financial institutions or regulators.
- Knowledge of transaction monitoring scenarios and model validation.
- Advanced degree in finance or law.
- Certifications like CAMS or blockchain analytics tools.
- Interest in digital assets use cases like stablecoins, tokenization, or blockchain infrastructure.
For NYC-based hires, a salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 is estimated, considering experience and skills. Compensation includes base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits.
