HISTORY
LIV Golf launched in 2022 as an eight-event Invitational Series with tournaments across the U.S., Europe and Asia. 2023 saw the first official season of the LIV Golf League, establishing the sport's first professional golf teams captained by many of the game's most decorated superstars competing in 14 events around the world.
The format respects golf's history and traditions with updates for modern-day sports fans; three days, 54 holes, no cut, shotgun start, and simultaneous team and individual competitions, offering a faster tournament that drives engaging storylines and offers an immersive fan experience. The League's award-winning events, each wholly owned and operated by LIV Golf and broadcast to over 500 million homes worldwide, showcase world-class competition within a family-friendly environment. Music entertainment, live concerts and a festival-style atmosphere play a signature role with LIV Golf, a two-time winner of the World's Best Golf Event from the World Golf Awards and a Sports Business Awards Finalist for Sports Event of the Year.
LIV Golf continues to expand its reach by bringing the League to new and returning markets featuring some of the most iconic venues in the world. ROLE OVERVIEW
The Director, Player & Team Communications will be responsible supporting the development and implementation of year-round communications efforts involving LIV Golf's 13 Team golf clubs and its 52 players. Under the direction of the VP, Team & Player Communications, they will work intimately with the Communications team, league departments, and external partners to create and execute integrated Communications strategies, aligned with the league's narrative and positioning, for league initiatives, league events, media engagement, and offseason activities. In addition, the role will support the development of bespoke franchise communication strategies and support related needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with League and Team business partners and assist in the development and implementation of Communications strategies that support each Team's unique brand awareness and positioning
Provide strategic counsel for Team Communications related matters and efforts
Support player onboarding and ongoing media training with GM, players, and agents as needed
Create and maintain relationships with key business and media partners to increase visibility of Teams & Players
Support Team & Player media relations and PR efforts including development and distribution of press releases, maintaining media lists, liaising with media, etc.
Implement and monitor reporting metrics to measure reach and impact of communications and identify areas of success and opportunity
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Proven track record with 5-7 years of experience in Communications and/or Public Relations, preferably within sports for a league, franchise or college/university
Experience across athlete communications, media training, and event communications preferred.
Advanced-level degree, preferably in Communications
Highly polished communication and writing skills. Possesses ability to interact and communicate across cultures and business levels, internally and externally
Ability to conceptualize, develop, and execute strategic planning
Experience in an extremely fast-paced and evolving environments and/or start ups
A self-starter possessing a strong news sense and a proven ability to tell impactful stories
Global event experience, preferably in the sports industry preferred.
Possesses a passion for sports, entertainment, and culture
Ability to work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with business partners to deliver strategic objectives
Results-oriented and ability to act quickly and decisively with good judgement
Enthusiastic approach to managing competing priorities
Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel if necessary
