Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of BI Engineering with a technical focus to lead the development and optimization of our data infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing the analytical layer of our data platform, transforming raw business data into clean, accessible, and actionable insights. You will lead a team that ensures the seamless aggregation, transformation, and storage of data, while automating processes to enable real-time reporting and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Your Impact

Lead, design, and optimize centralized data infrastructure and the analytical layer that supports key business decisions. Build scalable data pipelines, data models, and reporting capabilities; drive automation and real-time data accessibility; mentor a team of BI developers and engineers; stay current with industry trends to evolve the data platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of a centralized data infrastructure, maintaining an efficient analytical layer that aggregates, transforms, and stores business data in a single source of truth
  • Design and implement data models and analytical schemas to support complex queries and reporting needs
  • Oversee Looker (LookML) and DOMO data models and reporting; provide hands-on support to the team
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to build scalable data pipelines and integrate data from multiple sources
  • Automate data collection, cleaning, and transformation processes to ensure accuracy and real-time accessibility
  • Define technical architecture for data storage solutions aligned with business objectives
  • Reduce manual data work and improve data accessibility for stakeholders
  • Ensure data integrity and quality through validation techniques and debugging mechanisms
  • Partner with business leaders to define data requirements and ensure solutions meet business goals
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of BI developers and engineers; foster collaboration and excellence
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in data engineering

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data analytics, BI, or data infrastructure development; experience in digital advertising, eCommerce, or similar data-heavy fields preferred
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and BI tools (e.g., DOMO, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (e.g., BigQuery, AWS) and data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Spark)
  • Proven track record of building scalable data infrastructure supporting analytical work
  • Expertise in ETL, data automation, and large-scale data systems
  • Experience designing data models for multi-functional reporting
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align data needs with business goals
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or related field; Master's preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with data warehousing and BI tools
  • Experience with digital advertising platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Ads Manager, Affiliate Marketing)
  • Experience defining and managing KPIs in data-driven environments
  • Experience leading data engineering teams and mentoring talent

The base salary for this role is between $168,000 - $204,000. The actual base pay offered depends on factors such as transferable skills, experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change.
