Job Description :
Director, Business Development – Private Equity

Join to apply for the Director, Business Development – Private Equity role at Fahrenheit Advisors.

We're looking for a high-impact business builder who thrives at the intersection of strategy, relationships, and results. As Director, Business Development – Private Equity, you'll lead Fahrenheit's national expansion in the private equity sector—bringing transformative solutions to PE firms and their portfolio companies during critical moments of diligence, growth, and operational change. This is more than a sales role. It's a strategic leadership position designed for a connector, deal-maker, and trusted advisor who understands how to navigate the fast-paced, high-stakes world of private equity.

Fahrenheit, part of the Smith + Howard family of companies, specializes in delivering clarity, confidence, and strategic execution to middle-market businesses. We help organizations understand where they are, where they're going, and how to get there—with the right talent, insights, and solutions. Smith + Howard is an award-winning national advisory platform offering tax, audit, accounting, and wealth management services. Our culture blends the entrepreneurial spirit of a growth firm with the integrity and service of a trusted advisor.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the Charge: Own business development strategy and execution for the PE sector—identifying new opportunities, cultivating key relationships, and driving top-line growth.
  • Build Relationships that Matter: Connect with GPs, portfolio executives, deal teams, and intermediaries across the lower middle market to become their go-to partner.
  • Translate Market Intelligence into Opportunity: Leverage your understanding of PE trends, deal flow, and operational pain points to craft tailored solutions and unlock value for clients.
  • Orchestrate the Close: Lead the full lifecycle—from prospecting and pitch to proposal and handoff—ensuring a seamless client experience.
  • Collaborate Across Practices: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our consulting, finance, HR, and operational leaders to deliver integrated solutions that meet clients' unique needs.
  • Be a Brand Builder: Represent Fahrenheit at PE events, roundtables, and conferences; elevate our visibility, credibility, and market position.
  • Drive Thought Leadership: Develop content, insights, and perspectives that reinforce our position as a leading advisor to private equity-backed businesses.
What You Bring
  • Experience: A proven track record in private equity, business development, or client-facing consulting roles—preferably in the lower to middle market.
  • Relationships: Deep network across PE firms, portfolio operators, and advisors. You know the ecosystem—and how to plug into it.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of deal cycles, value creation levers, capital structures, and portfolio support strategies.
  • Presence: Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build trust with C-suite leaders and investment professionals.
  • Energy & Ownership: A self-starter who loves autonomy, thrives in ambiguity, and is motivated by results.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working across teams and disciplines to create comprehensive, tailored solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, consulting, or private equity advisory.
  • Demonstrated success in creating, closing, and expanding relationships with PE firms and their portfolio companies.
  • Willingness to travel for key client engagements and strategic market opportunities.
Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to shape and grow a high-impact vertical within a fast-growing advisory firm. You'll have the freedom to build, the backing of a respected brand, and the opportunity to make a direct, measurable impact on the private equity ecosystem.
