Job Description
The Director of Business Development is responsible for increasing revenues across existing, de novo, and acquired facilities. This role involves identifying and recruiting physicians to bring their surgical cases to our Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). The director will also develop and execute facility-level service line growth strategies by identifying new case types and recruiting physicians to perform these at our facilities. The position requires achieving facility and market growth objectives and meeting budgetary goals.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, leading the execution of strategic growth plans at each center.
- Skill in utilizing data and relationships to generate leads and target physicians.
- Capability to identify growth opportunities in service or product lines, secure approvals, and drive implementation.
- Experience collaborating with operations leaders and cross-functional teams (HR, Managed Care, Supply Chain, etc.) to execute growth strategies.
- Strong customer service orientation, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for physicians, hospital boards, administrators, and management.
- Proven team player with the ability to work within motivated, integrated teams.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Understanding of financial and operational performance, facility budgets, and regional market metrics.
- Experience with CRM software (preferably Salesforce).
- Reliable attendance.
- Healthcare sales experience preferred.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned region (60-70%) and occasionally to Nashville or other locations across the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Increase center revenues through physician recruitment.
- Report on market activity and performance against budgets during monthly reviews.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with physicians, staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Conduct regular visits to physician offices for recruitment and relationship building.
- Identify new service lines or case types based on market and physician opportunities.
- Manage relationships during recruitment and onboarding, including scheduling, credentialing, and case planning.
- Report on physician market share initiatives in line with strategic plans.
- Potentially cover multiple facilities depending on geography and physician utilization.
- Ensure surgeon utilization and financial performance targets are met.
- Coordinate development activities with facility and regional leadership.
- Attend monthly board meetings as required.
- Innovate to increase market share.
- Maintain weekly Salesforce documentation and follow-up actions.
- Comply with all ethics, compliance, HIPAA, and job requirements.
Supervision
The Director reports directly to the Regional Director of Business Development.
Assets Responsibility
- Develop and implement strategic plans at the facility, market, and regional levels.
- Manage computer and audiovisual equipment.
- Handle financial budgets and proformas.
