Job location: 280 Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Full Time position. Salary: $32.96 hourly. Day shift. Nonprofit - Social Services.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of program operation including program development; planning, organizing and implementing new and innovative programs and activities based on the changing needs of the older adults in the centers service area; responsible for program oversight and compliance with agency and funding source requirements.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers, overseeing services such as outreach, case assistance, nutrition and programming.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and professionally manage program staff. Ensure that staff meet funding source requirements in regards to qualifications and ongoing training.
  • Provide effective leadership, motivation, and direction to program staff to enable the agency to provide professional, comprehensive services.
  • Maintain professional standards in all aspects of work, including direct service, tracking and follow-up, professional development, documentation, and supervision.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners to boost involvement and understanding of senior needs, in particular local health and social service organizations.
  • Plan and supervise staff and consultants in effectively carrying out health promotion and educational/recreational activities as well as events and services that are appropriate and meet the various interests and needs of the center population.
  • Collaborate with Roundtable Director (caterer) on menu planning in accordance with funding source guidelines to plan menus that meet the needs of program participants.
  • Ensure that staff involved in food service handle food in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Plan and implement outreach efforts to identify isolated or underserved populations and ensure services align with community needs.
  • Manage revenue and expenses within the approved budget and prepare payment requests and vouchers.
  • Review monthly general ledgers and bi-weekly payroll reports.
  • Ensure the preparation of all funding source requirements for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Ensure that all documentation of daily service units is maintained in the funding source database and that monthly reporting of service units ties to this database.
  • Exhibit strong and calm leadership for directing staff and coordinating with other organizations to handle crisis situations and implement disaster preparedness plans.
  • Attend community meetings, prepare reports and attend meetings as required by the agency.
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Advisory Committee and other committees as necessary.
  • Other duties as required by the organization.
Competencies
  • Experience in providing social services to the elderly is a plus.
  • Experience in DFTA funded senior services; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Experience in planning, organizing and implementing recreation programs and services.
  • Able to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong human and public relations skills.
  • Interest and ability to work with senior citizens and volunteers.
  • Commitment to the organization''s mission, vision and values.
  • Ability to understand concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.).
Education Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least two years of experience in implementing and running programs and/or groups with clients, including program or service development. (Intern experience acceptable.)
  • Associate's Degree with three years of experience; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with five years experience in supervising or programming activities for senior citizens or other populations in a nonprofit or government setting.
