Ensures the highest level of service during events by training and developing staff and executing the requirements of events based on standards. Can hold associates and themselves to a high level of accountability and consistency. Drive customer satisfaction and capitalize revenue opportunities during the event phase of a function. Provides clear and concise communications to everyone having ownership in the success of the event. Monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities to meet or exceed department goals. Able to focus on hotel leadership duties outside the daily responsibilities of the banquet department and contribute to hotel's internal and external community initiatives.CANDIDATE ProfileEducation And Experience Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; 3 years' experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.
OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 1 year of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.
Professional Qualifications

- Be visible in the eyes of the clients, guests, and associates. Lead by example.
- Ensure the staff is knowledgeable about the groups and their functions.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIESManaging and Leading Banquet and Convention Service Set Up Operations
- Complete knowledge of all meeting spaces and understanding their flexibility.
- Understanding space square footage and knowing what types of setups will fit in each meeting space.
- Use of staffing matrix and customer count ratios to determine scheduling for each event.
- Ability to oversee and direct captains, servers, bartenders, and housepersons simultaneously.
- Complete food and beverage menu knowledge.
- Knowledge of beverage standards and liquor laws.
- Ensures function space and corresponding heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained.
- Ensures furniture and equipment is maintained and inventory levels are kept under corporate guidelines.
- Anticipates guests' needs and responds promptly.
- Work with the Executive Committee on CAPEX projects.
- Ensure schedules are completed due to business needs and company guidelines.
- Schedules are posted on time.
- Able and willing to assist in other areas of the hotel when needed or asked for (restaurants, lounges, recreation, pools, etc.).
- Attend preconvention, resume, and BEO meetings.
- Positive relationships and a high level of communication with the kitchen, stewarding, sales, and event planning teams.
- Very visible on the floor presence and able to be hands-on with all team members.
- Maintain and use side work checklists daily for all shifts.
- Knowledge of hotel systems (OneSource, Lightspeed, CI, Micros) and strong computer skills.
- Associate timecard edits are completed daily.
- Associates are sent on break per CA state laws.
- Monitor and document meal break violations daily.
- Manages department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Meal functions and meetings are set up before the start time with accurate menu items and/or meeting room specifications.
- Spaces and equipment are spotless and in working order.
- Conduct staff service training.
- Work with internal departments (stewarding, kitchen, event planning) to ensure all details are accurate and properly executed.
- Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures and ensures staff are trained in safety procedures.
- Ensure all staff have a current RBS and Riverside County food handler card on file.
- Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently.
- Interviews and hires employees with the appropriate skills to meet the business needs of the operation.
