Portfolio Required

At Walmart, we help people save money so they can live better. This mission serves as the foundation for every decision we make to create the future of retail, from responsible sourcing to sustainability – and everything in between.

As a Design Director of Intimate Apparel, you will be responsible for creating designs exclusively for Private Brands and developing trend strategies that support the Walmart Apparel Strategic Business Unit (SBU) merchandising goals. You will ensure that Walmart's private brand DNA/guidelines, trends, aesthetic/style, quality, and value all support the customer's needs and lead the market. You will be responsible for setting the brand's seasonal fashion direction and aligning it with broader Walmart strategies. You'll help ensure merchant leadership is aligned with the creative direction and assortment.

You'll excel if:

  • You enjoy building and developing private brand design strategy and execution, supporting long-term business plans and executing strategic programs.
  • You understand how to build a winning brand aesthetic and DNA/guardrails.
  • You are data-savvy: you can analyze competition, customer behavior, industry trends, and the macro environment.
  • You are omni-channel customer-focused: developing and executing a strategic, customer-centric vision across channels.
  • You are tenacious, dedicated, and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and healthy competition.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Brand Execution: Oversee all aspects of the brand, including management, design, merchandising analytics, and storytelling. Lead the design vision and ensure consistency with merchant strategy and brand guidelines. Make key decisions on aesthetic, silhouettes, fabrics, and materials. Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing teams on supplier relationships, imports, and pricing. Partner with marketing to ensure cohesive brand presentation.
  • Merchandising Differentiation: Understand the competitive landscape, develop advantages, and adapt strategies for the omni-retail environment to increase market share and customer loyalty.
  • Partnership with Leaders: Collaborate with senior leaders to align brand strategies with other business units and work with omni-merchandising teams to meet objectives.
  • Talent Development: Work with People Partners to develop skills, experiences, and competencies within the design team, fostering a high-performance culture and career growth.
  • Customer Experience: Deliver world-class Walmart exclusive brand experiences across all channels, providing high-quality, high-value products to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
