Job Summary

The Director, Access Network Architecture, Validation and Automation, will work across Engineering, Operations and Division workstreams to drive the successful deployment of new remote Physical layer (rPHY) services into the network on platforms such as the remote PHY device (RPD) and Full Duplex (FDX) amplifiers. Key issues, dependencies and other concerns that might affect the timing or quality of the deliverable will need to be exposed, understood, and addressed. The leader in this position will lead a team of highly professional and seasoned Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) working in these technology areas, helping build out our labs, test plans, and execute on test cases as well as identifying the strategy to help with field issue reproduction. The CONNECT team is leading the industry in building a truly intelligent network that enables many new products and services. As the network becomes more complex, we need to ensure that the adoption of new technology like FDX RPDs and amps occurs seamlessly without impact to the existing customer experience or operations. The leader in this role will use their technical and business leadership skills to mature and deploy quality firmware to meet critical business needs and to address key operational and field deployment issues. The candidate must bring expertise to support synthesizing business goals with technical feasibility to develop strategic execution plans to support the overall business objectives of the Access Network Engineering (ANE) organization. Our role primarily reside in Denver, Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to a team of SMEs working in validation, lab infrastructure, and automation roles in Access Network Engineering (ANE) as we execute on the Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) roadmap for both RPDs and FDX Amplifiers.
  • Engage collaboratively across vendors, other workstreams in ANE as well as in other associated areas such as Core Network (vCMTS) and Global Devices Organization (GDO) to brainstorm on approaches to resolve cross-functional issues and then execute on the path forward.
  • Analyze and prioritize vendor defect tickets. Engage in active vendor management.
  • Facilitate the resolution of program issues by developing mitigations and solutions to continue to move the program forward.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable categories to facilitate debugging / reproduction.
  • Ensure the solution architecture is implemented, behaves as expected, is deployable and scalable.
  • Drive technical and operational requirements to provide visibility on RPD and FDX amplifier health.
  • Communicate plans, status, metrics and overall business success to senior executive leadership on a regular basis. Represent the team's outcomes effectively in these forums.

Employees at all levels are expected to:

  • Experience managing and leading a technical team.
  • Good working knowledge of analog and digital HFC networks.
  • Knowledge of IPv6 unicast and multicast networking.
  • Knowledge of MHAv2 RPHY specifications.
  • Knowledge of ethernet switching and other L2 protocols like VXLAN, L2TP, MPLS, etc.
  • Knowledge of DOCSIS 4.0 MULPI & PHY.
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science is preferred. Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.

Salary:

Pay Range: This job can be performed in Colorado with a Pay Range of $158,200.83 - $237,301.24

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
