Job DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE:Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Marketing & Public Relations, the Digital Media Specialist plays a key role in elevating Navarro College's brand and visual identity. This position is responsible for creating dynamic and engaging multimedia content across both digital and print platforms to support institutional goals related to recruitment, retention, event promotion, and internal communication.The Digital Media Specialist is a creative storyteller and strategic content producer who designs, develops, and delivers impactful visual media using a blend of photography, graphic design, video production, and written communication. This role applies innovative marketing strategies to connect with all audiences across platforms, particularly social media.The focus of this position is comprised of 50% digital media, 40% photography and visual media, and 10% production and editing.GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and produce a wide variety of digital media used on social media platforms, video sharing websites, live video/web streaming, podcasts, presentations, and websites enhancing accessibility utilizing media technology. Create a social media calendar that supports the vision of Navarro College, its departments and student organizations Produce, edit, and compress audio and video for multiple delivery formats. Develop benchmark criteria to measure the effectiveness of social media messaging and implement improvements as required. Create full analysis of how social media is performing on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis Interface with Marketing and Public Relations staff and vendors to implement branding campaigns and public relations goals and strategies using social media. Convert digital materials, photographs, illustrations, audio and video files, and other materials into interactive online and offline content including alternative media formats by using various multimedia software applications, development tools, and equipment. Monitor and maintain social media activity on various platforms as directed on a daily basis and respond accurately to social media questions, photographs, videos, messaging, or directs them to the appropriate department. Assist with developing initial social media messages alerting administrators, faculty, staff and students of activities involving District locations and the surrounding community. Monitor and review social media messaging, postings, and tweeting; and remove or track inappropriate social media messaging, photos, and videos from Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and related social media platforms and communications. Maintain multimedia equipment and ensure their efficient and effective operation. Provide photo and/or video coverage of special events and post photos and/or videos on social media platforms. Create and maintain a media technology toolkit for administrators and other staff that includes operating instructions, training materials and manuals, graphic design work, logos, and video libraries. Organize and lay out the content of digital publications and make editorial suggestions to improve and clarify the text. Communicate with faculty, staff, students and the public both in person and on the telephone in a courteous and helpful manner. Use project management software to coordinate projects. Multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Seek out and stay aware of current market trends and viral opportunities for the college. Demonstrate the technical skills necessary to use a computer and various software programs to perform job functions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience developing and implementing strategic digital communications on social media on behalf of a large organization. Experience with social media marketing. Experience working within content management systems (CMS) to update, curate and manage digital content (i.e. Hootsuite). Knowledge of digital trends, current affairs and issues in higher education with the ability to understand issues from a broad, strategic perspective. Knowledge of social media platforms/tools, and an understanding of audience demographics and how they use these platforms to guide content and technology (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, blogs, wikis, RSS, etc.). Ability to work in relevant applications; including but not limited to, content management systems, photography editing software, video editing software, blogging platforms, social media management tools and email marketing tools. Knowledge in data and analytics to measure impact, create metrics reports and refine strategies (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, various social tools). Ability to produce still photos, video images/videography and live content for a variety of communications. Skills and ability with photo and video editing software (online and native applications) is necessary. Knowledge of and proficient in the operation and use of personal computers (PC and Mac platforms) and peripheral hardware such as cameras, video cameras, scanners, etc., and the use of word processing, email and electronic publishing software programs.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Associate Degree in Graphic Arts or related field. Two (2) years of related experience. May substitute an equivalent combination of training, education and qualifying experience which demonstrates the skills and ability necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must possess a current Texas Driver's License. Must be insurable under the Navarro College District's current auto insurance policy.WORKING CONDITIONS: Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position; may require nights and weekends. Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.SALARY: $45,000. annually (This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months)
