Position Purpose:

At our company, the safety of our associates is paramount! As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet diesel equipment, allowing our associates to operate efficiently and in compliance with industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Diesel Mechanic Technician performs preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and converter dollies under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting preventative maintenance and performing minor repairs and standard component inspections on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units).
  • Identifying root causes of basic failures and performing necessary repairs.
  • Ensuring all equipment has the required licensing and registration to be roadworthy.
  • Maintaining documentation of repairs and preventative maintenance using the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
  • Inspecting braking systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts to ensure proper operating conditions.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and equipment lubrication, utilizing both hand and power tools.
  • Providing training and guidance to fellow mechanics.
  • Undertaking additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or State Approved Equivalent with 3 - 5 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PMs, tire & wheel work, air brakes, diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and experience in refrigeration.
