Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Mechanic who, under direct supervision, safely performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire and track dozers, front-end loaders, and motor graders. Assist with and perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components. Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.
- Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
- Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
- Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.
- Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Perform other duties as required.
Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I Position Requirements - Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
- Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills
- Ability to troubleshoot machine systems
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with others
- Ability to read and use blueprints
