As a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer, you will work on rewarding problems and interesting technologies, bringing a software engineering approach to system operations, scalability, and automation. You will implement infrastructure that supports rapid development, deployment, and iteration of software across the company, including embedded systems onboard rockets and space vehicles. Your decisions will directly impact the productivity of rocket scientists and engineers, supporting our DevOps, CI/CD, and pipelining requirements.

Our Tech Stack Includes: Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, GitLab, Linux, Terraform, Ansible, Java, JavaScript, Python.

This role requires a passion for space exploration, a strong technical background, and the ability to operate in unfamiliar domains. You should have a strong bias for automation, humility, and a customer-first mindset. The position is based in Kent, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire software lifecycle from design to deployment and refinement.
  • Support services pre- and post-launch, including system design, capacity planning, and monitoring.
  • Maintain and monitor live systems for availability and performance.
  • Administer BEARS products and infrastructure, standardize processes, and optimize costs.
  • Establish and improve CI/CD methodologies and deployment practices.
  • Scale and evolve systems through automation, reliability, and velocity improvements.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
  • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot open-source and commercial software.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for space and our mission: enabling millions to live and work in space.
  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with modern software practices and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code, networking, containerization, and orchestration tools.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, C, or C++.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with databases and problem-solving skills.

Compensation Range for WA: $137,049 - $191,869.
