Our client is a leading broker dealer firm based in NYC, providing comprehensive financial services and trading solutions. We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their technology team and lead infrastructure automation and configuration management initiatives using Ansible.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Ansible configuration management to drive our infrastructure automation and migration projects. This role will be instrumental in modernizing our technology stack, ensuring compliance with financial industry regulations, and maintaining high availability and security standards in the financial services sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesConfiguration Management & Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain Ansible playbooks for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management across development, staging, and production environments.
- Lead migration projects from legacy configuration management systems to Ansible-based solutions.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Ansible, ensuring consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Create and manage Ansible roles, modules, and collections for reusable automation components.
- Implement automated configuration drift detection and remediation processes.
Infrastructure & Platform Management
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to automate server provisioning, application deployment, and environment configuration.
- Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines integrating Ansible automation workflows.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities through automated infrastructure management.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, security, and compliance across all managed environments.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices in all automation workflows, ensuring compliance with financial industry regulations (SEC, FINRA, etc.).
- Manage secrets, credentials, and sensitive configuration data using Ansible Vault and enterprise secret management solutions.
- Conduct security assessments of automated processes and implement necessary controls.
- Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails for compliance requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with development teams to integrate configuration management into application deployment processes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members on Ansible best practices.
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and risk management teams to ensure all automation meets regulatory requirements.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting efforts when configuration-related issues arise.
Required QualificationsTechnical Skills
- 5+ years of DevOps/Infrastructure engineering experience.
- Expert-level proficiency with Ansible (playbooks, roles, modules, collections, Galaxy).
- Strong experience with Linux/Unix system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience with version control systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk).
Industry & Compliance
- Financial services industry experience preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (SOX, SEC, FINRA).
- Experience with security frameworks and compliance automation.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
General Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Experience working in agile development environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ansible certifications (Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation).
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools.
- Knowledge of database management (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
- Familiarity with network automation and software-defined networking.
- Experience with configuration management migrations from tools like Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
- Understanding of trading systems and financial market infrastructure.
- ITIL or similar process framework experience.
