LDF continues to make an impact in the area of public service and was recognized by Fast Company as one of its 2023 Brands That Matter under its public service category.The NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) seeks a dynamic and passionate Development Coordinator - Development Operations to process donor gift information, update constituent records, prepare acknowledgments, coordinate project tasks, and provide general office/administrative support to the LDF Development Operations Team which helps drive the Development Department.LDF operates in a hybrid work environment where employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, unless otherwise indicated.Responsibilities:
  • Handling the processing of all gifts received via lockbox, non-lockbox and online donations, which includes credit card processing and checks received in-house;
  • Enter and update donor/prospect information into Raiser's Edge database on a regular basis with efficiency and accuracy;
  • Generate and distribute gift summary reports; and assist with weekly reconciliation of all donations received;
  • Prepare timely acknowledgments for donors who contributed via lockbox, non-lockbox, online gifts, memorials and other miscellaneous gifts;
  • Process mail edits, which includes changes of address on returned mail and research bad addresses;
  • Assist all other team members; i.e., Special Events, Foundation, Major Gift Officers, Direct Marketing with related gifts information retrieval;
  • Train temporary employees during the busy season on gift processing; and perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Database Manager;
  • Conduct biographical, financial and philanthropic research on individuals and/or institutional prospects and donors; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A college degree with relevant work experience;
  • Strong demonstrated experience using the Raiser's Edge application;
  • Experience using general search engines, e.g., The Foundation Center, Lexis-Nexis, I-Wave, Google and other online databases;
  • Excellent research, organizational and oral and written communications skills;
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently and/or with a team as dictated by projects;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in written work and oral communications;
  • Proficiency with computers and Windows-based software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point); and
  • Commitment to racial justice and civil rights.
