Overview
Senior Designer works as part of a team responsible for developing a comprehensive, functionally, and dimensionally accurate physical layout of electrical, communications, and other systems based on the engineering design, specifications, and materials and equipment submittals to meet the project needs and M.C. Dean's constructability objectives.
Responsibilities
- Work under general supervision as part of the project VDC team.
- Review construction documents, specifications, BIM execution plan, project-specific design plan, and other documents to identify modeling requirements.
- Perform basic capacity and voltage drop calculations to validate circuit and pathway sizing.
- Perform modeling and coordination of the electrical and low voltage raceways and equipment based on established project-level guidelines and company standards for typical spaces and moderately complex elements of the project.
- Participate in multi-trade coordination and resolve conflicts.
- Produce drawings and sketches as necessary, verify, and perform quality review of the completed work.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related concepts.
- Knowledge of field installation best practices.
- Knowledge of critical design software:
- Autodesk Revit
- Autodesk Navisworks
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- BlueBeam
- MS Office
Education Requirements:
- 10+ years of commercial electrical field experience, with experience as a Designer using AutoCAD or MicroStation, and a high school diploma or GED.
- 8+ years of experience with an associate degree.
- 5+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree.

Certifications:
- Completed electrical apprenticeship and journeyman or master electrician status is strongly desired.
