We are searching for a Designer or Senior Designer for our Washington, D.C. studio and a confidential client. The Designer is responsible for leading all design phases for interior projects, establishing the vision, leading the team, and having extensive client interaction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support a client with a large campus in the Tysons/McLean area as part of a project team.
  • Manage design on new, refresh, remodels, renovations, right-sizing, relocations, rollouts, and concept test projects within the Real Estate and Property Development Department.
  • Handle small to mid-sized quick turnaround projects annually, typically ranging from 100 to 5,000 SF each.
  • Act as the liaison between the client and the architecture firm.
  • Coordinate project teams to ensure timely completion of documents.
  • Develop overall design concepts for projects.
  • Create detailed project drawings (schematic design, design development, permit, pricing, and construction documents).
  • Present and obtain approval of concepts from clients, initiate new projects, and manage the design process with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Establish and monitor adherence to project budgets.
  • Manage overall client relationships, from initial needs assessment through design presentation and project delivery.
  • Review engineering drawings for compliance with design solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to resolve drawing inconsistencies.
  • Provide furniture layouts, selections, and specifications; coordinate FFE quotations with dealers.
  • Obtain client approval and ensure integration into the overall design.
  • Produce, review, and finalize space plans.
  • Detail and finalize project details with extensive knowledge.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive design and furniture packages.
  • Specify interior and exterior signage and branding.
  • Ensure budget adherence and promptly communicate any variances to project managers and clients.
Education, Work Experience, Background, and Schedule
  • Degree in architecture, design, or business; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in design projects.
  • Hybrid work schedule: on-site at client campus (T/W/Th) and remote days (M/F).
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite.
  • Deep knowledge of design principles, aesthetics, space planning, furnishings, and finishes.
  • Expertise in sketching, rendering, interior architecture detailing, and contract administration.
  • Understanding of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent presentation and graphic abilities.
