Security Design Engineer

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000/yr. Full Time + $500/month car allowance + Bonus

Duration: 6+ Month Contract-to-hire or Direct Hire

Location: Columbus, OH (Cincinnati, OH, Lexington, KY and Antioch, TN locations also available)

Hybrid 3 days in office and 2 days remote

Bright Minds' national security solutions client is hiring an experienced Security Design Engineer to design and draft security systems for large-scale client projects. Also, help prepare system layouts, CAD drawings, equipment lists, scope documents, and bid packages.

In this role, you'll be responsible for engineering and drafting high-performance security solutions from fire alarms and special hazard suppression systems to access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

Top 3 Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of hands-on design/engineering experience with fire alarm, suppression, intrusion, access control, and CCTV systems
• NICET III or higher certification
• Associate's degree in engineering or a related field

What You'll Do:

• Design and draft complete system layouts using AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Ensure accurate, code-compliant project designs using current technologies and best practices
• Support sales and field teams with technical input, equipment specs, and scope reviews
• Stay current on new products, technologies, and compliance requirements
• Provide support to technicians, customers, and AHJs on design and installation questions

Requirements:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, with strong knowledge of physical security and IP-based systems
• Familiarity with state and local building codes
• Strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and ability to work independently
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and industry-specific software tools
