Description Design / Responsible Engineer is a position reporting to the Engineering Manager that will support product design and qualification efforts on all of NuSpace's pressure vessel products. Position will be responsible for working with the engineering team including CTO, engineering manager, and stress and fluids analysts to design new products based on customer specifications and generate the 3D models and engineering drawings associated. The position will provide engineering support on NuSpace's existing product lines including review and assessment of nonconformances, assisting in corrective actions, design and drawing revisions, and providing customer engineering support. The position will work closely with program management and manufacturing engineering in maintaining and releasing engineering drawings and documentation for NuSpace's products. Pay Range: $110,000.00 to $150,000.00, depending on experience. Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for NuSpace's existing product lines including assisting in nonconformance review and disposition, corrective actions, design and drawing revisions, and customer engineering support.
  • Work with engineering team to design new products for NuSpace's range of spaceflight pressure vessels and propellant tanks
    • Create CAD models and drawings for new products, subassemblies, and components, including specifying manufacturing and inspection requirements, defining GD&T,
    • Work with manufacturing engineering to specify product BOMs and manufacturing, assembly, and test process flow
  • Provide engineering support for new product proposals and quoting
  • Provide engineering support in reviewing data and guiding critical development and qualification activities such as material coupon and tank qualification test programs.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering experience in relevant field
  • Strong understanding of fundamental design engineering principles, DFMA, GD&T.
  • Strong experience in CAD required, preferably Creo experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Pressure vessel design experience or related highly desired.
  • Desired areas of experience include:
    • Aerospace pressure vessel/propellant tank engineering
    • Fracture critical structure design
    • Composite structure design
    • Knowledgeable about aerospace structures testing including pressure, static load, vibration, thermal cycling
  • Aerospace experience valued
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
