Position Details

Hours: Full-Time – 35 HoursWork Location: 30-30 Thomson Ave, LIC, Queens 11101

Department Overview

The NYC Department of Design and Construction seeks to hire a Deputy Director to support the Human Resources and Staff Development, Recruitment and Retention unit. The division provides services and support to agency employees, promoting communication, transparency, and collaboration. The Recruitment and Retention unit supports staff needs and develops policies to maintain a high-quality workforce.

Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Executive Director of Recruitment and Retention, the candidate will:

  • Oversee the Recruitment and Retention team, providing recommendations for improving recruitment, onboarding, employee satisfaction, and retention.
  • Lead the recruitment and coordination of DDC's annual Summer Internship Program.
  • Manage recruitment event planning, including career fairs, hiring halls, networking events, and agency tours.
  • Coordinate recruitment marketing efforts via social media, college partnerships, and external channels.
  • Collaborate with HRSD team members to track recruitment activities, initiatives, and KPIs.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • A master's degree in relevant fields and one year of professional experience, or
    • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience, or
    • An associate degree and five years of experience, or
    • A high school diploma and seven years of experience, with a combination of education and experience as specified.
    Preferred Skills

    Candidates with 5-7 years in personnel management or data analysis, with leadership experience, strong communication, customer service, analytical skills, and attention to detail will be prioritized.
