Deputy Director of NYC Intergovernmental Affairs
Salary Range M2: $105,000-$130,000
Duties Description:
Under the direction of the Assistant Secretary of NYC Intergovernmental Affairs, the Deputy Director assists with the management of regional events, interns, and staff assignments. The Deputy serves as an advisor on intergovernmental affairs issues pertaining to NYC.
- Acts as liaison between the Governor's Office and NYC Elected Officials.
- Provides additional support to the Regional Representatives
- Acts as liaison for the Executive Chamber, various agencies and authorities to address specialized issues.
- Advises Assistant Secretary, the Governor and Senior Staff on policies and issues of crucial importance to communities and facilitates meetings for the Governor when needed.
- Responds to correspondence associated with liaison areas.
- Supervises seasonal intern
- Represents and accompanies the Governor at various meetings and events.
- Oversee assigned events.
- Manage the New York City Council home rule bills.
- Other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of progressively responsible, relevant work experience in government, politics and/or campaigns
- Must have a good working relationship with elected officials, faith-based leads, advocates, community boards, civic associations, etc. throughout New York City
- Must be well versed on the issues impacting the region
- Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and public speaking skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly for diverse audiences
- Excellent research, reasoning and writing skills
- Sound judgement with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Ability to proactively self-manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting tight deadlines
