Deputy Director - NYC JOBS : Job Details

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Deputy Director to join the Construction Management 2 Queens South Section 1 team. The successful candidate will be responsible for an annual capital program comprised of multiple construction projects at a value of over $300M; manage professional and technical construction staff responsible for overseeing capital-funded sewer, water main, roadway, sidewalk, pedestrian ramp, plaza, climate resiliency, public space improvement projects; review construction plans; coordinate with sponsor agencies, private utility firms and stakeholders to resolve any operational field problems involving construction; ensure contract compliance and payment of consultants; schedule and perform final inspections and participate in various agency taskforces such as those related to new initiatives in change orders, project record keeping, quality assurance, forecast Yearly Mayoral Report quantities, etc. Moreover, the Deputy Director will act as the representative of the borough in meetings with utility companies, and city, state, and federal agencies when needed; train staff in executing the team's responsibilities; participate in the recruitment efforts of the agency; and support the Assistant Commissioner and Director with the team's objectives as required. Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or 2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in 1 above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in 1 above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. However, all candidates must have the two years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in 1 above.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. 4. Knowledge relevant to infrastructure construction work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main) 5. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards 6. Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices 7. Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling. 8. Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) 9. Valid driver's license (required) 10. Personal vehicle (Optional)
