Manatee County Government is offering a full-time salaried position with a salary range of $80,143.32 to $132,236.48 annually. The job is located in Bradenton, FL, and is part of the Property Management department. The job posting is open continuously.

The position will serve in a survey capacity to sign and seal surveys on behalf of the County. This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Administrator. Employees so designated may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Working conditions include an indoor/outdoor situation with a high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. alone; up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

Essential functions include scheduling survey work in conjunction with needs of the various departments of Manatee County, reviewing subdivision plats for compliance with County and State codes and statues, preparing and reviewing legal descriptions and sketches for acquisitions of rights-of-way and easements, managing and reviewing contracts with consultants who provide Land Surveying services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, policies, procedures and standards, signing and sealing documents as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor, reading, comprehending and effectively explaining plans, specifications, sketches, etc., communicating clearly, effectively and tactfully both orally and in writing; preparing and presenting reports, briefings and data in a professional manner; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others; when necessary, making public presentations in a professional manner, and performing other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field, minimum of three (3) years' experience in Land Surveying, current Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper license or the ability to obtain said license within six months, familiarity with Florida Statutes Chapter 177, Part 1, Platting, and equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to traverse uneven terrain; ability to squat, kneel, bend reach, etc., in order to efficiently perform duties, ability to perform physical work outside under varying traffic and weather (which may include extreme) conditions, experience in computer operations and pertinent software applications, ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer, able to accurately perform mathematical computations in a timely manner, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry, as applicable to the duties associated with area of assignment, ability to provide instruction and training for all types of surveys for all survey personnel, ability to analyze assorted survey data and make professional decisions that protects the County's and public's interest and promotes the Surveying profession, establish and maintain good working relations with other surveyors on the local and state level, and detail oriented.
