Deputy Coroner - County of Gallatin Montana : Job Details

Under general supervision, the Deputy Coroner conducts death investigations as required by Montana law (Montana Code Annotated). This role serves a critical function in determining the cause, manner, and circumstances of deaths that occur within Gallatin County and fall under the jurisdiction of the Coroner's Office. The position reports directly to the Chief Deputy Coroner and does not supervise other County personnel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - While on duty, the Deputy Coroner carries out the same duties as the County Coroner, including but not limited to:Investigating deaths that meet any of the following criteria:Not attended by a physician. Occur in a medical facility within 24 hours of admission. Appear to be non-natural or suspicious in nature. Involve Juveniles or Infants. Are referred by a physician. Notifying next of kin.
