Department Assistant - Support Critical Construction Operations
$18-$23/hour | Onsite in Gladwin, MI | Full-Time with Overtime Opportunities
About the Role
PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an organized and proactive Department Assistant to support daily operations for a high-profile construction project in Gladwin, MI. Working onsite in a field office trailer, you will provide administrative and logistical support to project management, safety, and coordination teams to ensure smooth operations. Your attention to detail and ability to adapt in a fast-paced construction environment will make you an essential member of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Support field craft payroll processes, including weekly time entry, verification, and correction submissions.
Assist with employee onboarding from background check to onsite orientation.
Maintain and update project logs, databases, and tracking systems (including IRA tracking and apprentice records).
Support document control processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Manage office supply inventory and coordinate shipments and deliveries.
Assist with event and training setup as needed.
Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Superintendents, and Safety Managers to address operational needs.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 3 years' experience in an administrative or coordinator role, preferably in a construction environment.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; Oracle experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Professional, positive demeanor and ability to work with diverse personalities.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Must be able to work on an active construction site in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Requires standing, walking, and computer work for extended periods.
Must have a personal vehicle capable of driving on gravel roads; valid driver's license and clean MVR required.
Work boots required (not reimbursed).
Schedule & Compensation
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM (5/10 workweek). Must be available for Saturdays/Sundays as needed.
Pay: $18-$23/hour, plus overtime after 40 hours in accordance with state guidelines.
No per diem - local candidates only.

Pay Details: $18.00 to $23.00 per hour
