The Dental Assistant provides technical assistance during dental procedures and examinations according to established protocol and procedures and supports specialists in Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics or Orthodontists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Interaction and Care:

  • Greet, direct, and escort patients, providing routine information about procedures.

  • Calm and soothe anxious or uncooperative patients throughout their treatment.

  • Clinical Session Preparation and Assistance:

  • Review schedules and planned procedures with providers.

  • Prepare rooms, instruments, and materials for scheduled treatments and assist during procedures.

  • Impressions and Imaging:

  • Take dental impressions, produce study models, and handle lab case logistics.

  • Take, develop, and manage dental radiographs and digital photographs, ensuring quality standards are met.

  • Record Keeping and Charting:

  • Chart teeth and conditions in the electronic dental record as directed by the provider.

  • Maintenance and Supply Management:

  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility of patient areas and instruments.

  • Monitor equipment, report issues, and ensure treatment rooms are well-stocked and equipped

Requirements

  • Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • License & Certification:

  • Completion of a CODA Accredited Program Certificate

  • Current Massachusetts license as a Dental Assistant

  • BLS certification or CPR/AED certification

  • Board approved examination for DANB Radiation Health and Safety RHS required within 60 days of hire

Experience

  • At least one year of experience working in a Dental Clinic is preferred. Experience working in a Pediatric Dental Practice is highly desirable.
