Job Summary: Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is currently seeking an experienced Operation Control Center (OCC) Operator to ensure the safe and reliable operation of LRE's fleet under normal and emergency conditions, complying with the applicable NERC reliability standards, RTO rules and protocols, and interconnection requirements. This position is in Dallas, Texas and provides a perfect opportunity for a professional looking for interesting work within a small team, the ability to expand their experience, work with all levels of the organization, and contribute to the company's success. Essential Functions:
  • Support and Guidance: Provide direction and support to site personnel in resolving performance issues and service activities to restore plant performance.
  • Communication: Receive and execute operating instructions from various entities, including Site Personnel, Balancing Authorities (BA), Transmission Operators (TOP), and Reliability Coordinators (RC). Promptly notify the appropriate entities of system disturbances, emergency conditions, and other events adversely affecting the plant.
  • Monitoring and Control: Oversee and assess system conditions to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately maintain records for reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Emergency Response: Notify relevant parties promptly in the event of system disturbances or emergencies.
  • System Operations: Operate the generation systems within both normal and emergency parameters. The operator actions include the authority and responsibility to shed load, remove transmission components from service, order generation on and off line and follow any directives issued by the Reliability Coordinator and any other actions needed to operate the systems within the facilities and equipment ratings and System Operating Limits.
  • Compliance: Adhere to NERC and Regional Reliability Standards under supervision.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training to obtain operator certifications.
  • Training Requirements: Complete all Operations Control Center (OCC) training within 6 months and pass OCC evaluation.
  • Certification: Obtain PJM Generation Operator (GO) Certification within six months of starting.
Supervision:
  • Work under general supervision, receiving direct guidance as needed. (Independent in Emergency)
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience: 0+ Years
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NERC Certification
  • PJM Generator Operator Certification
  • Other RTO/ISO certifications may be considered
  • 2+ years' experience in utility or power plant operations
Physical Demands:
  • Follows a 12-hour rotating shift that requires employees to work nights, weekends, and some holidays, as well as occasional overtime
  • Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifting 20-pound boxes.
  • Ability to travel within the US.
