They offer tremendous growth opportunities, great benefits, and flexible work schedules, which is why they are consistently recognized as a Great Place To Work.Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Operations, the Decision Support Analyst position develops and interprets complex financial analysis and reports used by management in decision-making. The position is responsible for preparing analysis for the support of budgeting/ long range planning, business plan development (proforma, retrospective analysis), service line reporting, revenue, and reimbursement analysis, as well as the ad hoc reporting needs of management. The role requires performing extensive data mining and abstracting of financial and clinical information from various sources to analyze and interpret data to support organizational decision-making and strategic planning.The Decision Support Analyst will serve as a liaison to operationally support and link areas such as Finance, Administration and Operations. This role serves as an expert in Decision Support and Cost Accounting, understanding the flow of data from financial systems and patient encounter records and the interrelationship of data from these different systems. Responsibilities:
  • Develops expertise in various reporting systems and plays a key role in the implementation/maintenance of Syntellis and Strata financial decision support/cost accounting/benchmarking applications.
  • Prepares analysis for the support of budgeting/long range planning, business plan development (proforma, retrospective analysis), service line reporting, cost and revenue analysis, as well as the ad hoc reporting needs of management.Including assessment of volume, reimbursement, pay or mix, and operating costs.
  • Summarizes and presents results in an understandable and actionable manner, including leveraging visualization platforms, to assist in decision-making and consults while communicating with the requestor to ensure correct interpretation of the results.
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly Volume Statistics.
  • Responsible for developing routine reporting and dashboards to monitor institutional performance relating to financial and operational indicators and provide administration with information to make critical business decisions.
  • It acts as a liaison between the finance department, administration, physician practices and other hospital departments.
  • Routinely suggests improvements to optimize and increase efficiency in data preparation, including methods to reduce/avoid duplication of effort among stakeholders (e.g., finance teams, administration, operations, IT, etc.).
  • Cross-trained to perform in other areas of the Finance Department as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Hospital Administration required, Masters preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in a Healthcare Analyst or Decision Support Analyst position
  • Experience with Power BI (Business Intelligence), data visualization tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reporting systems (Syntellis), cost accounting (Strata), and financial systems (Infor), medical record systems (EPIC)
  • Experience with cost accounting required
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and business practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work with members of the leadership team
  • Advanced skills in reading, analyzing, and interpreting hospital volume and financial data
  • Well-organized with excellent time management skills and able to work under tight deadlines handling multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with peers, supervisors, department heads and senior staff.
  • Understands organizational dynamics and ability to lead others toward goal achievement
  • Ability to understand key issues and synthesize large data sets of complex information to communicate to various audiences
  • Self-motivated and dynamic individual with the ability to think creatively and work independently on complex projects and complete analysis/projects in a timely manner to meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously, as well as being flexible enough to change direction with responsibilities as assigned
  • Exhibit integrity and confidentiality in dealing with information which can be sensitive in nature, including information which may fall under HIPAA regulations.
Salary: $90,000-$120,000. This salary range is not a guarantee.
