Washington and Lee University (W&L), a top-ranked liberal arts institution in Lexington, Virginia, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College. The Dean serves as the chief academic officer of the College and reports to the Provost. This role provides strategic leadership for 21 academic departments and 13 interdisciplinary programs that form the liberal arts core of the university.

The Dean will work collaboratively with senior leadership to advance W&L's mission and academic vision, support over 200 faculty and 45 staff, and foster a culture of academic excellence, inclusion, and innovation. Key responsibilities include faculty recruitment and development, curricular planning, budget oversight, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Dean also serves on the President's Council and the Provost's Academic Council.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline and possess a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment as a full professor. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to liberal arts values, shared governance, and fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. Strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills are essential.
