Because the world our children will create tomorrow is born in the School we build today, our mission is to educate our children so they can surpass us.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Dean of Curriculum and Integration oversees all curriculum and integration 6-12. As a member of the Educational Leadership team, the Dean of Curriculum and Integration is fully engaged in discussions regarding the strategic educational direction of the school and the development of action plans to achieve stated goals. The Dean of Curriculum partners closely with the Rabbinic Head, the Dean of Faculty, and the Director of College Counseling and Academic Planning. The Dean of Curriculum and integration supervises the Curriculum Coach, the Director of Experiential Learning, the Director of Israel Education, the Director of Library Studies and Educational Technology and the School Registrar. The Dean of Curriculum and Integration mentors teachers and curricular leaders. The Dean of Curriculum and Integration reports to the Associate Head of School for Academic Affairs.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESCurriculum and Integration
  • Ensures that the academic curriculum supports the mission of the school and aligns with the Portrait of the Graduate.
  • Implements the discipline specific and school-wide curriculum strands.
  • Oversees all curriculum revision, adoption, and development.
  • Develops the 6-12 curriculum map (ATLAS).
  • Oversees all course offerings, including annual review and updating of course catalog and academic planning collateral.
  • Work with Division Heads, Dean of Faculty, and Instructional Leaders in ongoing assessment reviews and reform in order to implement standards based curriculum and grading standards.
  • Collaborates with Rabbinic Head and Jewish Studies Instructional Leader to develop a plan to integrate Jewish texts, values and practices with the general curriculum.
  • Partners with the Rabbinic Head on Milken's Faculty Integration Fellowship.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of Faculty and instructional leaders on the intersection of pedagogy and curriculum.
  • Visits classes to assess 6-12 curriculum strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for development.
  • Partners with the Director of College Counseling and Academic Planning to ensure that the school is compliant with College Board, University of California and NCAA Clearinghouse standards and that the curriculum is current with college trends.
  • Works with signature program leaders to develop curriculum and courses and works with Instructional leaders to develop new Signature Programs.
  • Oversees the integration of the following pedagogy methodology: design learning, problem-based learning, experiential learning, Jewish integration, and the following content areas: Israel education and antisemitism education across all curricula.
Data and Assessment
  • Creates and monitors an academic dashboard for assessing progress.
  • Analyzes data on student achievement (grades, AP scores, internal assessments, ERBs, SATs, ACTs) and makes recommendations to senior academic leadership team.
  • Oversees CAIS and WASC accreditation processes as needed.
Administrative
  • Oversees the curricular and program budgets.
  • Serves on the Academic Planning Leadership Team and Educational Leadership Team.
  • Oversees the 6-12 master schedule.
  • Works with Division Heads to determine sections and levels offered 6-12.
  • Partners with the Educational Leadership team to project enrollment and staffing needs.
  • Partners with the External Relations department to advance the school.
  • Partners with Operations and HR on hiring, facilities, safety, policy and protocol.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Areas of expertise include curriculum design, integration, assessment, project-based and design learning.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in educational leadership and supervision.
  • Has a commitment to and experience with Jewish learning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
