What will I do in this role with Garden Spot? As a DayBreak Program Coordinator, supporting the Garden Spot Communities' mission will include the following responsibilities:
  • Assists with the day-to-day operation of the DayBreak program at GSV and is responsible for performing the following duties:
    • Supervise, coordinate, and orient volunteers and students.
    • Help Supervise Program Assistants, managing the flow of the day. This includes prompting staff for breaks, compliance tasks, and resident care as needed. Help orient new team members.
    • Develop a monthly activity calendar and newsletter and distribute to participant families. Work closely with activities team members in other care areas to plan joint events. Maintain all aspects of the activity program including supplies, bulletin boards, and events/outings (and transportation), leading activities or delegating to the team, ensuring one-on-ones are completed with participants as needed.
    • Participate in care planning process.
    • Complete MedTech certification and help ensure all policies and procedures around medication administration and followed. Help administer medications as needed.
    • Directly interact with participants and provide personal care as needed, including showers.
    • Finalize menus provided by dining services and distribute to families to allow participants to select their own menu in advance. Ensure daily menu orders are completed and submitted to dining services. Assist with lunch service, which may include taking food temperatures, setting tables, meal cleanup.
    • Assist with incoming calls, providing applicable program information to prospective clients, scheduling tours, and fielding other questions as able.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for participants.
    • Submit work orders as needed.
  • Help provide accurate monthly documentation for each program participant.
  • Build professional relationships with participants and their families. Communicate necessary information effectively.
  • Effectively communicates with Director of DayBreak regarding concerns with program, staff, participants and volunteers.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a work climate that is psychologically safe, encourages positive staff morale and commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings, recertifications, and continuing education programs and/or seminars. This includes CPR/First Aid, Pennsylvania's Adult Day Services Director Training, and Medication Administration Certification.
  • Help with marketing the DayBreak program as needed.
  • Help develop and implement DayBreak program policies, goals and objectives.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable regulations and requirements, including Pennsylvania's Office of Long-Term Living.
  • Act as Interim Director and perform the following tasks in the absence of the Director of DayBreak:
    • Manage all aspects of the DayBreak program
    • Implement different procedures and programs as needed
    • Handle incidents/conflicts with program participants/families and follow appropriate reporting procedures
    • Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures
What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?
  • Bachelor's Degree or two years' experience in Human Services field, along with skills to work with aging adults and adults with functional impairment.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, grammar, interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to plan and implement therapeutic activity programs for participants using creativity, resourcefulness, flexibility, and an open mind.Able to provide initial management and program supervision.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills. Willing and able to learn new software programs.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certifications and driver's license.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, patience, tact, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be able to manage monthly budget.?
  • Ability to drive 20 passenger bus, mini bus, van or car as needed and as comfortable.
