This position supports the local area manager and is responsible for personnel leadership, training, and overall safety of the team, as well as delivering excellent customer service.

Job Description

Summary: This position provides support to the local area manager and oversees personnel leadership, training, safety, and customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide feedback to the Area Manager and monitor cross-training efforts.
• Ensure safety standards are upheld and address maintenance issues.
• Monitor performance metrics, develop process improvements, and resolve service-impacting issues.
• Attend customer meetings and foster relationships.
• Coordinate logistics activities with internal and external customers.
• Research and implement best practices in logistics and distribution.
• Manage and develop department personnel to meet business needs efficiently.
• Ensure high service levels from all employees.
• Ensure all locations are equipped with necessary tools and equipment (M&R, rentals).

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Leadership skills including recruiting, hiring, team building, coaching, and mentoring, with experience training managers and drivers.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Knowledge of domestic carrier services, rules, and regulations.
• Understanding of critical safety issues and prevention strategies.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, E-Plan, Geotab).

Qualifications:

• Related field experience with 1+ years in business, preferably in supply chain or transportation, with supervisory experience.
• BA/BS in logistics preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to dedicate necessary hours to complete tasks.
• CDL required.
