Database Team Manager - Continental Finance : Job Details

Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a Database Team Manager to support our Information Technology team.

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Database Team Manager to lead a high-performing team of database administrators, engineers, and developers. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic oversight, performance, and scalability of our database environmentson-premises and in the cloud. This role requires deep expertise in SQL Server and AWS cloud database technologies, combined with strong leadership, communication, and technical skills.

CFC offers a hybrid work schedule which includes three (3) core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two (2) remote workdays (Monday and Friday).

Essential Functions

• Lead and mentor a team of DBAs, database engineers, and developers to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of all database systems.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational databases with a primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server and AWS-based solutions.
• Drive automation, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery planning in an AWS cloud environment.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and analytics teams to support application and business data requirements.
• Set best practices for database design, development, access, and security.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in database management and cloud platforms.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance, security, and privacy standards.
• Lead database incident response and root cause analysis and drive continuous improvements.
• Participate in budget planning, vendor evaluations, and resource forecasting related to database infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, replication, backup and restore strategies, and high availability.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role within a database or data engineering team.
• Hands on experience with AWS cloud data technologies.
• Understanding of data warehouse concepts and technologies. Experience with Snowflake a plus.
• Strong understanding of database security, monitoring, and automation tools.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
