Database Application Developer, Professional Services
At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we're hiring highly technical database application developers to help our customers develop technical expertise and capacity, while also collaborating with our customers and partners on key engagements. Our consultants will deliver pilot projects, topical workshops, and lead implementation projects using database application development expertise.Professional Services engage in a wide variety of projects for customers, providing collective experience from across the AWS customer base and are obsessed about strong success for the Customer. Our team collaborates across the entire AWS organization to bring access to product and service teams, to get the right solution delivered and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs.Key job responsibilitiesWe are looking for hands-on architects/developers who are passionate about:
Helping customers architect scalable, highly available database solutions that leverage AWS servicesDeveloping customer applications and database to be cloud optimizedAnalyzing on-premises database environments such as Oracle, SQL*Server, or other Commercial DB Engines to Open Source Engines like Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL or No-SQL DB like DynamoDBConsulting for optimal design of database environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performanceWorking as a technical leader alongside customer business, development, and infrastructure teamsAdvising and implementing AWS best practicesA day in the lifeThis is a customer-facing role. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.- 8+ years of IT implementation experience- 5+ years of experience designing and managing large-scale database infrastructure- 3+ years of experience with AWS platforms and open source databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience- Experience and technical expertise (design and implementation) in cloud computing technologies- Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies- Experience with NoSQL databases- Solid understanding of DBMS concepts such as ACID and consistency- Experience working with high availability, performance tuning (parameters, resources, contention, etc.), and database monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
