Job Summary:
We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our data warehouse team that develops and supports semiconductor engineering solutions for IBM Infrastructure and IBM Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining multiple data warehouses - ensuring data security, integrity, and performance. This role will be responsible for providing technical support to our customers, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
o Design and implement database schemas, data models, and data structures to meet business requirements.
o Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to ensure data consistency and integrity.
o Install, configure, and maintain Cloud Rack for DB2 Data Warehouses.
o Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization and indexing.
o Ensure database security, backups, and disaster recovery procedures are in place.
o Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.
o Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
o Perform data backups, restores, and migrations as needed.
o Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
o Ensure compatibility with existing applications and systems.
o Analyze and troubleshoot technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
o Provide technical support to customers via email, chat, web-conference, and ticketing system.
o Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including hardware, software, and network-related problems, often under time pressure.
o Troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance problems and data corruption.
o Provide technical support to developers, analysts, and other stakeholders.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database systems, configurations, and procedures.
o Provide regular reports on database performance, security, and other key metrics.
o Work closely with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure database systems meet business requirements.
o Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Required technical and professional expertise
o Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related experience.
o 3+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server).
o Experience with database design, development, and implementation.
o Experience with technical support tools, including ticketing systems, CRM, and knowledge management software
o Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking fundamentals.
o Proficiency in operating systems, including Unix and Linux.
o Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), data modeling, and data governance.
o Proficiency in SQL, database scripting languages, and query optimization techniques.
o Experience with database security, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
o DB2 Data Warehousing.
o RedHat Open Shift technologies.
o AIX and RHEL.
o Agile development methodologies.
o ServiceNow, GitHub, Jira, Ansible.
o Semiconductor Industry Expertise.
