This position requires candidates to be serving permanently in the Economist title, reachable on the civil service list, or eligible under the 55a program.*

Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting economic and social vitality in New York City. The Division handles planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility, and safety for motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. The Bicycle Unit manages the largest network of on-street bicycle facilities in the nation, focusing on innovative redesigns to expand and improve the bike network.

The NYC DOT seeks a highly motivated, creative, and critical thinker passionate about communications and increasing cycling and micromobility in NYC. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, expanding automated data programs, maintaining databases related to bicycle and micromobility counts, developing statistical models using programming languages, ensuring compliance with Open Data Law, managing grants, conducting research, developing evaluation frameworks, analyzing travel patterns and safety, and communicating findings to diverse audiences.

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, accurate, a good team player, and possess excellent communication skills. They should work collaboratively, seek professional development, and adhere to safety regulations. Preferred skills include experience with transportation dynamics, policy, bike share, cycling, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, data visualization, and familiarity with pyspark, Power BI, JavaScript, and Python packages like leaflet or folium. A valid NYS driver's license and a strong interest in cycling are desirable.

This role may offer remote work up to 2 days per week under the City's Remote Work Pilot Program. It is open to qualified individuals with disabilities under the 55-a program. Please indicate your interest in the 55-a program in your resume or cover letter.

Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in economics, statistics, finance, management, business administration, public administration, public policy, or related fields, or a bachelor's degree with relevant coursework and experience in finance, research, policy analysis, or quantitative analysis.
