Job Summary

Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Data Scientist to join the team, supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) with modern analytic techniques, data sciences, modeling, and automation to promote mission excellence.

Specific Responsibilities

Develop methods for querying, visualizing, and analyzing big data across intelligence disciplines.

Optimize existing databases for faster queries, input, export, and visualization.

Collaborate with NGA Analysis Operations and other offices to develop strategies for exposing new datasets and migrating legacy data.

Build custom tools and processes to automate analytic tasks.

Write scripts in languages such as Visual Basic, R, Python to analyze large datasets and extract patterns.

Apply mathematical techniques to solve GEOINT analysis problems and understand structured data and relational databases.

Use tools like Arc GIS, Excel, SPSS, SAS, Matlab, R to analyze and visualize data both temporally and spatially.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in math or a science-related field, or at least 7 years of relevant experience.

Experience applying multidisciplinary mathematical and statistical models to large datasets.

Experience developing tradecraft techniques for big data discovery and normalization.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Visual Basic, R, Python, Java, Javascript, C++.

Experience with data visualization tools and geospatial analysis.

Knowledge of intelligence operations and GEOINT phenomenology.

Experience with GOTS data and analytics capabilities (e.g., MIST, LINX).

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Normal office environment.

Travel

Occasional long-distance travel.
