The Advanced Analytics team partners across Blue Shield of California to accelerate business outcomes through AI/machine learning, statistical methodologies, and unstructured data analysis. The Data Scientist, Consultant reports to the Director, Advanced Analytics and tackles challenges such as text analytics, disease progression prediction, population health impact analysis, clustering, propensity modeling, and geospatial analysis of social determinants of health. Responsibilities Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process improvements Perform data exploration and visualization using Python, DataBricks, Tableau, and notebooks Partner with data engineering for rapid prototyping using SQL, Spark, and other tools Conduct feature engineering and develop model validation procedures Act as SME in applied ML for claims, premiums, and risk scores Lead ML project lifecycle from ideation to deployment Review literature to inform modeling approaches Translate business needs into technical specifications and design pipelines Assist in cloud infrastructure transition Convert text data into predictive features Create materials to communicate findings Lead and contribute to Generative AI projects Stay updated on Generative AI advancements and incorporate relevant techniques Collaborate on integrating Generative AI into products Research new applications and mentor on Generative AI Qualifications Bachelor's in a quantitative field or PhD with relevant experience Minimum 3 years of Data Science or ML experience Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Julia, and cloud environments like Azure or Google Cloud Experience with statistical methods, ML/DL packages, and MLOps practices Knowledge of Generative AI frameworks (GPT, GANs, VAEs) and ethical considerations Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills About the Team Stellarus, launched in January 2025, is part of the Ascendiun family, focusing on innovative healthcare solutions.
