Our client, located near Albany, NY, is seeking a Data Science Lead to play a critical role in shaping the organization's data analytics strategy. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen to transform complex data into actionable insights. Responsibilities of the Data Science Lead will include:

  • Develop and execute a vision for advanced analytics in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Lead and manage data science projects, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Work closely with data architects, ETL developers, and business intelligence teams to design and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Stay informed on emerging data science technologies and best practices.
  • Present insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Research and develop statistical models and machine learning algorithms for data analysis.
  • Implement new mathematical or statistical methodologies as needed.
  • Partner with data engineering teams to establish standards for data governance, transformation, and storage.
  • Create data design documentation and models to guide software development teams.
  • Evaluate performance and scalability requirements, ensuring optimal efficiency.
  • Provide thought leadership in advanced analytics, assessing feasibility, costs, and potential business impact.
Job Requirements Qualifications of the Data Science Lead:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with SAS, ETL, database programming, and data analytics.
  • 4-8 years of experience in a data science or analytics-related role.
  • Experience with Azure tools such as Synapse and Machine Learning.
  • Strong background in data mining, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analytics and machine learning.
  • Understanding of data transformation techniques and structures.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture, data governance, and master data management.
  • Ability to communicate complex insights to executive leadership.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Passion for innovation, methodology, and governance in data science.
Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and education, ranging roughly from $100,000 - $135,000, DOE.
