Support data science and analytics to help inform investment professionals. Work with various investment teams to identify their data science and analytics needs and help develop proprietary data insights and analytical systems for investment. Work on a wide variety of investment strategies, explore vast amounts of alternative data and market data, apply cutting-edge statistical models and develop propriety analytics tools to improve decision making and enable new investment strategies. Work alongside investing groups to discover data science and analytics needs and provide quantitative analysis for constructing investment portfolios, underwriting new investment ideas and monitoring existing positions. Perform quantitative portfolio analysis to evaluate new investment opportunities and evaluate past performance of existing investment strategies. Read and work with financial statements and financial models to better interact with the financial analysts in formulating hypotheses. Analyze and test new and existing datasets to determine their reliability, and modify or reorganize datasets to improve relevance or other criteria. Communicate sophisticated data insights and analytics to relevant audiences, specifically financial analysts through verbal and written reports and identify further testing to fine-tune verification of the hypothesis. Work independently to develop and test relevant financial theories specific to industries, micro or macro-economic markets, statistical or financial trends. Develop, implement and validate propriety analytics tools to improve investment decision making and enable new strategies. Maintain analytics codebase, relevant infrastructure and relevant data pipelines, and work on long-term, self-directed projects that support the firms' investment strategy. Up to 5% domestic and international travel for industry and bank conferences and other similar events. May work remotely within normal commuting distance of New York, NY.
Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or other quantitative data-intensive social sciences discipline, plus experience in investment banking, consulting, or investment management sectors or in a quantitative research role, and skills in: Performing advanced statistical, data and quantitative analysis with varied and complex data sets; Preparing complex statistical or mathematical models; Finance research and data science research including machine learning or artificial intelligence; Python, R, SQL or other similar programming language or statistical packages; and Presenting complex technical information verbally and in written materials. The required experience and skills may be acquired as part of academic program. Minimum Salary: 150000 Maximum Salary: 165000 Salary Unit: Yearly
