Description
Purpose: Performs a variety of clerical and computer related activities and phlebotomy with minimal supervision. This individual interacts with patients of all ages and works effectively with others to meet the needs of the patients. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Essential Responsibilities
Performs patient registration on samples received when necessary.
Performs phlebotomy activities on patients of all ages with minimal supervision.
Performs necessary steps related to specimen processing.
Ensures correct sample is routed to correct location for testing whether internally or externally.
Provides guidance on what to order, what samples to collect, how to collect, and how to transport blood and tissue samples to the laboratory.
Performs computer related activities as required.
Provides assistance to all incoming phone calls.
Restocks supplies as necessary.
Performs other duties such as data collection, filing, faxing, assisting technologists and couriers for specimen pickup and transport.

Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· PREFER: Phlebotomy experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
· NA
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform phlebotomy procedures as necessary. Some lifting, bending, and stretching is required.
Work Environment/Hazards: Specimen handling, bio-hazard waste, chemical handling.
Job Relationships: Responsible to the Lab Manager or designee. Works with all members of the Department and interacts with other members of the hospital staff.
