Head of Data, Quant & Investment Strategy - Financial Services

Position Overview

Full-time, direct hire

100% remote (however the ideal candidate would be based near New Brunswick in New Jersey)

Up to $110k base salary

Green Card holders and US citizens only

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and transform data from diverse sources
• Develop and optimize ETL processes for large-scale data loads and warehousing
• Implement and manage data aggregations for analytics and usage reporting
• Work with Oracle PL/SQL packages
• Design and maintain reporting structures and datasets for statistics aggregation
• Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues across Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts
• Support customer implementations by mapping data and transforming legacy datasets

Required Skills & Experience

• A strong foundation in Oracle and PostgreSQL, including experience with PL/SQL packages, is essential
• Excellent SQL skills and ability to write complex queries
• Solid understanding of data aggregation, analytics, and warehousing techniques
• Familiarity with usage statistics standards (e.g., COUNTER) or similar reporting protocols
• Experience handling large datasets in production environments
• Ability to debug and optimize ETL pipelines
• Knowledge of XML-based content formats (e.g., JATS, ONIX, NLM) is a plus
• Scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is desirable

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• Experience working in publishing, digital content platforms, or scholarly communication
• Understanding of metadata and data models used in academic or STM publishing
