Overview
Data Architect (Remote from anywhere in CO) State of Colorado, Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT).
This is a term-limited position with an anticipated end date of approximately two years from the date of hire. This position is eligible for State employee benefits and may be extended as needs warrant. Remote work must be performed in Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Consult as a resource on data strategy and architecture to OIT and agency partners; advise in strategic direction and ideation, remove roadblocks, and ensure on-track alignment with executive expectations.
- Drive innovations, collaborations, and insights to establish a strong data-driven approach to decision-making across the organization.
- Bring best-in-class technologies, innovation, and creativity to develop technical solutions that solve complex multi-dimensional problems.
- Provide technology expertise by architecting, prototyping, researching, recommending, documenting, and assisting in implementing and evaluating technical solutions for business needs, whether purchased or developed.
- Assess new data initiatives for compliance with architecture, information security, and data standards; coordinate review processes with project planners.
- Interface with vendor technology/solutions and engage OIT architecture throughout the project lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in data architecture (solution architecture), data management, and information classification at the enterprise level; understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions in modern data technology platforms including Cloud (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Spark) based solutions.
- Experience in developing and operationalizing architectural and data designs, including data, technology, and infrastructure.
Substitutions
Additional appropriate education substitutes for required experience on a year-for-year basis. Training or certification related to the work may credit toward substitution but cannot fully substitute for these qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Data Modeling & Design, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Document & Content Management, Metadata, Reference & Master Data, Data Governance, and API-led Connectivity.
- Experience with Snowflake, erwin, Informatica, Azure DevOps, Tableau.
Conditions of Employment
- OIT candidates and employees must comply with screening procedures at state locations where work is performed.
- A pre-employment background check will be conducted.
- Some agencies may require a pre-employment drug test.
- Travel within Colorado and to locations across the state as needed; some on-call duties possible.
Supplemental Information
- Remote work is in Colorado; periodic reporting to the primary state work location may be required.
- Candidates from out of state may be considered but must relocate and reside in Colorado on start date; relocation timeframe set individually based on business needs.
