Data Architect

Chicago, IL- 3 days hybrid

Long Term Contract

We are seeking an experienced Data Cloud Architect for our direct client, to lead enterprise-scale data cloud migration programs and architect secure, scalable, and future-ready data platforms. This role sits within the Digital Process Automation Architecture team, working across business units to enable a data-driven culture and ensure delivery of optimized, resilient solutions.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with deep experience in TOGAF or C4 architecture modeling, cloud data technologies, and translating complex business requirements into actionable architecture and design.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead information architecture design across enterprise capabilities and major transformation initiatives.
• Design and document architectures using TOGAF or C4 frameworks, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
• Partner with engineers, architects, and business teams to deliver data ingestion, integration, and publishing solutions.
• Establish and enforce data governance and security in collaboration with Information Security teams.
• Evaluate, recommend, and prototype emerging cloud data technologies to modernize architecture.
• Create clear data models, flows, and documentation to guide engineering teams through cloud migration.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience developing data and services in enterprise and/or cloud environments.
• Deep hands-on experience with one or more data engineering technologies such as DataBricks and Azure Data Services.
• Proficiency with one or more data modeling tools and SQL.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server) and experience with resiliency, failover, traffic routing, and Sharding in the cloud.
• Ability to evaluate, prototype, and recommend emerging cloud data technologies.
• Experience working in Agile environments and with data governance processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of data security solutions.
• Experience with modern polyglot databases (Snowflake, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Cassandra).
• Familiarity or hands-on experience with cloud analytics tools such as Synapse.
